So I took a trip up to the Seattle Science Center yesterday to check out the Lucy exhibit, which covers the fossil remains of what is believed to be the first up right walking human ancestor.(
See here)
I found it to be really interesting and it had a lot more information than I was expecting. The first half of the exhibit is a history of Eithopia,(where the remains were found)and the second half is all about pre-human ancestors and comparing them with modern humans and chimpanzees. In the first half I was surprised by all the empires than were built around the same time as the Romans and complex societies and religions that the people possessed. Also I surprised that origin of Rastifarianism came from people worshiping the leader of Ethiopia,(
Haile Selassie) who was formerly known as the Ras Tafari.
It was really a shame that they did not allow photography but I found
this piece of information near the end of the exhibit to be amazing.
After the Lucy exhibit, my niece wanted to check out some other things, you'll see.
